How to Get Rid of "Lua is reaching its memory limit" Error

Hello Insiders!

We all love addons right? They are making trading easier, show us harvest spots, showing how much health our group members have and also do many, many other things. If you need a list with useful addons, you can find it in this tutorial. Today I will write about difficulties that you may have after installing them.

What often occurs after installing a few addons is a memory problem that looks like that:

So what to do now you might ask. Should I choose one or two best addons and use only them? Or maybe switch somehow between them? And If I need to uninstall some of them which one should I delete?

Answer is very simple – none. There is a small trick that will help you solve this problem and dismiss this error forever!

Of course if you install all available addons my tutorial won't help you, otherwise I am sure it will be better. Currently I am using around 20 addons and don't have any problems or errors while playing.

These are the steps that you should follow:

⁃ Close the game and the launcher

⁃ Open “My Documents”

⁃ Open Folder “Elder Scrolls Online”

⁃ Open Folder “live”

⁃ Open File “UserSettings.txt”

⁃ Find line SET LuaMemoryLimitMB "64"

⁃ Change it to multiple of 64. I am using 1024

⁃ Save the file and run the game

And that's it. Works for me and I hope that will also work in your case. Good luck and have fun playing!

I changed mine to 128 and never seen the error since' here is also a thread with a list of most of the usersettings, what they do and what you can change, some give great improvements to both FPS and graphics quality:

Another option is using Shissu's addons. They help the game performance as well.
